Il Pozzo’s immaculate private gardens provide the ultimate retreat for al fresco relaxation and leisurely pleasure. Flawlessly designed for long, tranquil days beneath the Tuscan sun, the property boasts numerous terraces, a delightful pergola and even its own vegetable patch.

On your arrival at Il Pozzo, you are immediately struck by the stunning gardens, designed by the famous Tuscan landscaper, Alberto Margheriti. Leaving the avenue lined by magnificent cypress trees interlaced with white roses and olive trees you pass by the working vineyards and arrive at the orchards in front of the villa. The 11 hectares of land have been divided into several elegant sitting and dining areas from which you can enjoy the views to Pienza, the famous Mount Amiata and beyond. The spaces are lavishly furnished with lounging sofas, comfortable chairs as well as hammocks from which you can relax, read or take a snooze after the most delicious meals produced by the resident chef.

Walking underneath the rose-twined pergola, you arrive at the well-designed vegetable garden which produces a variety of tomatoes, zucchini, celery, onions, lettuce and much more. It is such a delight when these vegetables are presented at the dinner table together with the delicious extra-virgin olive oil produced on the land!

Our farm produces extra virgin olive oil of superior quality. Olives are hand-picked and cold-pressed in local mills. We also produce an excellent wine, Orcia (DOC) from Sangiovese grapes.

Swimming pool

The pool is approached by a beautiful staircase in white travertine stone bordered by lavender and rosemary. The pool measures 12m by 6m, is heated and has an electric cover, providing additional security for families who visit Il Pozzo with children.

There is a pergola-covered area overlooking the pool with two sitting areas including a double lounger. This area provides a quiet relaxing area from which older, more able children can be watched whilst in the pool. Down by the pool side, there are two sitting areas: a lounging area with a set of comfortable sofas and chairs and a dining area. The circular dining table sits adjacent to the gas BBQ, fridge and serving areas all finished in steel and white travertine stone.

There is an outdoor shower and easy access to a toilet in the storage/utility room area.

For lively junior guests, the gardens offer plenty of opportunities for fun, too, including a wonderful wooden playhouse, slide, swing, see-saw, table tennis, table football and a five-a-side football pitch.
